I love to cast on new things. I know I'll finish them in my own time. If something gets put into hibernation for too long, I'll admit that its actually headed for the frog pond. But generally, I need a variety of projects to bounce between. Afterall, who can really concentrate on a complicated lace while at knitting group? I know I can't! And who wants to deal with endless rows or rounds of stockinette or garter ALL the time? Gotta have big projects like sweaters and afghans and small ones like socks and gloves. Its just the way I am. If you can do one project at a time from start to finish before casting on another, more power to you. That's not me. So, in the spirit of de-shaming WIPaholism, I will attempt a list of all the current WIPs that I have going (if I can recall them all... some hide from me). They also are in no particular order, just as they come to me:
- Flowering Weeds Shawl (my name based on the handspun yarn I'm using for it)
- 2 Baby Surprise Jackets (Ravelry Link)
- Goddess Knits Anniversary Shawl
- Titania Sweater
- Swallowtail Shawl
- Mystery Shawl 10 (Ravelry Link)
- Mini Holiday Stockings
- 9 different Traveling Scarves (which is a whole lotta 4" sections! - another Rav link)
- 2 Prayer Shawls
- A pair of fingerless gloves
And I have everything lined up to cast on for the Halloween 08 Mystery Shawl (Rav Link) and the Winter 08 Mystery Shawl.
So, embrace your inner caster-onner! LOL!

I too have many projects on the needles. Thanks for giving me that little boost of validation today! lol
I thank you so much for coming out with you WiPaholic tendances! Now I feel like I don't have to hide in the closet when I cast on another project anymore.
And in honor of your post, I'm going to go cast on something (else)
I agree!!!
Now if I didn't live in my living room and had places to store all the WIP's I'd like to have my list would be longer then yours. I agree, who needs a cure for this syndrome, I say bring it ON!!! LOL
By the way I love watching your wish list, and reading your needs and wants comments.
WIPaholic! So *that's* what I am! I love it! I've lost count of how many WIPs I've cast on in the last few weeks, but I agree -- Heck, I could hardly do 2x2 rib tonight at knitting group! And Lady E is just beyond me there! I need somethings small for the plane on Thursday... I think I'll cast on some socks. It's been a while since I knit me some socks!
Oh nice. I was feeling badly about all my WIP's. And casting on for even more projects. I did get some stuff done this week, YAY!!
I'd hate to see my list of WIP's.
And I see you're on a shawl kick. I like them, but don't really have a use. And I don't want to spend $$ on yarn only to give them all away. So way to go. I can live vicariously through you.
I didn't know it was something to feel shame over... all this time I had misplaced pride in my ability to have a bazillion projects at once and get them all done on time. Or close to it.
I think you're awesome, I could never knit as many things at a time as you. I suck just a little at knitting.
Oh, and hi!
uh huh. where's our knitwits scarf?! post, Dee!! :) hugs!
